The best months overall: November, December and April

If you can pick any date, choose one of these three.

• November — the sweet spot. Days around 30°C, water still 27°C from the summer, and the winter winds have not arrived. Comfortable from midday through to late evening.

• December — the most reliably pleasant conditions of the year, which is why it is also the busiest. Book well ahead, especially around New Year.

• April — warm days at 33°C and water at 26°C, so swimming stops are comfortable without the summer humidity.

The catch with February and March

This is the part most guides leave out. February and March look ideal on a temperature chart, and plenty of people book them for exactly that reason.

But late winter and early spring bring Dubai's strongest winds. Those winds can raise dust and put a noticeable chop on the water, and February is also the wettest month of the year and has the coldest sea, at around 22°C.

None of that makes February or March bad months to sail. The weather is comfortable and most days are fine. It simply means these two carry the highest chance that your particular date is windier than you hoped. If you are booking then, keep the route closer to the Marina and Palm rather than heading well offshore, and check the forecast two days before.

Should you book a yacht in summer?

Yes, with one adjustment: change the time of day, not the plan.

June to September, midday on an open deck is genuinely uncomfortable, with highs above 40°C in July and August plus heavy humidity. But the same day offers two windows that work well:

• Early morning — depart shortly after sunrise. The air is at its coolest, the water is flat and the light is excellent for photos.

• After dark — the Marina towers and Ain Dubai lit up, with the heat well off the day. This is the single most underrated slot in the Dubai calendar.

Summer also has two real advantages. The sea reaches 33°C in July and August, which is the warmest and most comfortable swimming of the year. And availability is wide open, so you can book at short notice and get the yacht you actually want rather than whatever is left.
